Eric Broder and Sarah Murray spoke at the Connecticut Bar Association's Connecticut Legal Conference, June 13, 2016

At the Connecticut Bar Association's 2016 Connecticut Legal Conference, Attorney Murray organized and moderated a seminar entitled "Establishing and Modifying Support Orders after Dan v. Dan".  She discussed the procedural history and holding of the Connecticut Supreme Court decision. Attorney Broder discussed his perspective on this influential case as trial counsel in the case.  And, presented on litigating an alimony modification after Dan v. Dan.

Broder and Orland LLC prevails in favor of client in Post Judgment hearing, April 2015

BRODER & ORLAND LLC represented a client in a post-judgment hearing wherein she claimed her ex-Husband was in contempt and owed her $60,804 in past due childcare expenses, child support, and unreimbursed medical expenses. The Court found the ex-Husband to be in willful contempt and ordered him to pay his ex-Wife $60,804 within two weeks and to pay all of her legal fees incurred.


Ferri v. Ferri 2014 WL 7638030 (Conn. Super., August 12, 2014)

BRODER & ORLAND LLC represented Husband in dissolution trial wherein Wife's potential property distribution, after the expiration of all related appeals, is limited to approximately $12MM over 4 years, despite Husband having been the beneficiary of a trust that the Wife claimed was valued at $200MM - $250MM dollars. Additionally, alimony will end upon the first property distribution payment to the Wife.

Wilson v. Wilson 2014 WL 7156650 (Conn. Super., November 10, 2014)

BRODER & ORLAND LLC represented Father in post-judgment relocation trial wherein Mother was denied her request to move child to California where her new husband is employed in the financial industry.

Dan v. Dan 315 Conn. 1 (2014)

Landmark Supreme Court decision holding that the modification of an alimony award typically is not justified where the only substantial change in circumstances after the divorce is an increase in the alimony payor's income and where the alimony award continues to meet the original purpose for which it was made. BRODER & ORLAND LLC represented the alimony payor, who was ultimately successful on appeal, in the post-judgment modification trial.

Eric J. Broder, a lawyer from Fairfield, has been elected president of the Fairfield County Bar Association. Broder, having practiced law for 17 years, is a founding member of Westport law firm BRODER & ORLAND LLC .

Broder is an AV Preeminent lawyer as rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standard, according to an association news release. He practices in the area of divorce and family law and has served as a co-chairman of the association's Family Law Section.

He is also the immediate past president of the Fairfield County Bar Foundation, the association's charitable arm.

Broder also acts as a special master in the family division of the Stamford and Bridgeport Superior Courts. He has lectured on numerous occasions to attorneys, accountants, financial analysts, mediators, therapists, paralegals and the general public on many aspects of family law, the release states.

BRODER & ORLAND LLC , a Westport law firm, recently added three lawyers. The firm, founded in 2005 by Eric J. Broder and Carole Topol Orland, also doubled its office space at 55 Greens Farms Road to 3,500 square feet and added a receptionist and a second paralegal.

Joining the firm's current associates Lauren M. Healy and Jessica S. Esterkin are new lawyers Sarah E. Murray and Wendy G. Walker. Brightwell, who joined in July, was recently associated Rucci, Burnham, Carta & Carello LLP in Darien and has practiced law in Connecticut since 2005. He has experience in family and matrimonial litigation, and has served as a guardian ad litem for minor children. He is president of the Darien Rotary Club and has been a speaker at the Greenwich Center for Hope & Renewal.

Murray, who joined in June, was recently associated with the family and matrimonial law practice of Marvin, Ferro, Barndollar & Roberts LLC in New Canaan. She is a co-author of "Electronically Stored Information: What Matrimonial Lawyers and Computer Forensics Need to Know."

Walker, who joined in August, has been practicing law since 1994. Her experience in family and matrimonial law has included work at Connecticut Legal Services and at Wofsey Rosen Kweskin and Kuriansky LLP in Stamford. She was formerly a partner in corporate litigation at Anderson, Kill, Olick & Oshinsky PC in New York and began her career at Goldman, Sachs & Co., as a financial analyst in mergers and acquisitions.
